WikiRadio Privacy Policy

Summary

WikiRadio has no account, no ads, no tracking, and no cloud profile. The little data involved exists only to make the radio features work.

Location (only for Nearby stations)

If you use Nearby mode, the app uses your device’s location to find radio stations near you. This is optional — you can deny the permission at any time and the app still works, with only the Nearby view unavailable. Coordinates are used only for a geographic station search and are not stored as a location history.

Currently playing metadata

To show album information and lyrics, the app reads the artist/title metadata broadcast by the station. This metadata may be sent to third-party lookup services to find matching information. We do not store your listening history on any server.

Data stored on your device

Favorites, your recently played list, and your appearance preference are stored only on your device in app preferences. They are never uploaded to us.

Sharing with third parties

The app is a player; the catalog and enrichment come from independent services. Information is shared only as needed for a feature you use:

  • Radio Browser — station search, browse, Nearby, and station URL (including coordinates for geographic search).
  • AzuraCast — per-station live metadata via its API URL; no personal data.
  • Last.fm — artist/title of the current track for track info lookups.
  • LRCLIB — artist/title (and album) for lyrics lookups.

Permissions

The app requests only location (optional, for Nearby) and notifications (Android 13+, for media playback). No other sensitive permissions are used.

Children

WikiRadio is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Security & deletion

Data sent to third-party services uses HTTPS where supported; some legacy radio stations use HTTP streams for compatibility. You can clear favorites and recently played from inside the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all local data, and there is no account or cloud profile to delete.
